# Is Chaser worth it? An honest Chaser review

What Chaser costs, what you get for the money, what its own help docs say it does not do, and which businesses get their money's worth.

**Chaser is worth it for a UK business under £10m revenue that wants email, SMS, letters and automated calls in one tool, and that has a person who chases. It costs £199 a month on Compact under £4m revenue, £599 on Core under £10m and £899 on Complete under £100m.**

**It is harder to justify for a small business with few late invoices, because the price is set by revenue and not by how many invoices you chase. Below £4m, Compact also stops at 4 users and 4 workflows.**

**In short**

- **Price:** £199, £599 or £899 a month, set by annual revenue. Yearly billing takes 10% off.
- **Rating:** 4.98 from 374 reviews on the Xero App Store and 4.9 from 45 on Capterra.
- **Trial:** 10 days free, with no card details.
- **Main limits:** 4 users and 4 workflows on Compact, a Xero reconnect every 90 days, and one set of late fee rules for the account.
- **Alternative:** Paidnice from £49 / $69 a month, priced by invoice volume.

## Is Chaser worth it? The short verdict

Chaser is a mature tool. It launched in 2014, it chases on four channels, and its Xero App Store rating of 4.98 comes from 374 reviews. For the right business, the price buys a complete credit control setup.

The question is fit. The table shows when the price makes sense and when it does not.

| Chaser is worth it if | Chaser is harder to justify if |
|---|---|
| You want email, SMS, letters and automated calls from one tool | Xero's own invoice reminders already get most of your invoices paid |
| You want Creditsafe credit checks next to your chasing | You are under £4m revenue and need more than 4 users or 4 workflows |
| You want a person to do the chasing for you, with Chaser Care | You want a separate late fee policy for each customer group |
| You charge UK statutory interest at the Bank of England base rate | You trade in New Zealand and want automated calls |

## What does Chaser cost?

Chaser sets the plan by your annual revenue. The price is the same for 50 invoices a month or 5,000.

| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly (per month) | Annual revenue | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compact | £199 | £179 | Under £4m | 4 users, 30 follow-up templates, 4 workflows |
| Core | £599 | £539 | Under £10m | Unlimited users, templates and workflows; multi-entity |
| Complete | £899 | £809 | Under £100m | Core, plus a dedicated account manager, priority support and a receivables forecast |
| Custom | Quote | Quote | Above £100m | Speak to Chaser |

Chaser Care adds a dedicated AR specialist who makes follow-ups and calls, manages the inbox and handles disputes. It is sold as a bundle: £899 a month with Compact, £1,599 with Core and £2,099 with Complete. Billed yearly, the bundles are £809, £1,439 and £1,889 a month.

## Chaser cost calculator

Enter your currency and annual revenue to see the Chaser plan you need and what it costs. The bands differ by currency: under $5m, $13m and $120m in US dollars, and under 8m, 20m and 210m in Australian and New Zealand dollars.

The interactive cost calculator on this page picks the Chaser plan from your currency and annual revenue, and shows the monthly and yearly cost with or without Chaser Care.

## What do you get for the money?

Every plan includes the same chasing channels. The higher plans add users, workflows and account support.

- **Email from your own mailbox.** Chase emails go from your own Gmail or Outlook address, so replies land in an inbox you already read.
- **SMS, letters and automated calls.** Each is a step in a chasing schedule, billed by credit once the plan allowance runs out.
- **Late fees and interest.** Four fee types: a fixed amount, the Bank of England base rate (UK only, charged daily), a daily percentage and a one-time percentage.
- **Credit checks.** Reports and monitoring from Creditsafe.
- **Debt collection.** An escalation route to Chaser's collections partner, Debitura.
- **Xero sync.** Chaser syncs with Xero once a day and again before it sends payment reminder emails.

## What do Chaser's users say?

Chaser's ratings are high on both sites that publish them.

| Site | Rating | Reviews |
|---|---|---|
| [Xero App Store](https://apps.xero.com/uk/app/chaser) | 4.98 | 374 |
| [Capterra](https://www.capterra.co.uk/software/157101/chaser) | 4.9 | 45 |

A high rating tells you that Chaser does what it promises for the businesses that chose it. It does not tell you whether its revenue-based price fits your business. The next two sections answer that.

## What are Chaser's limits?

Chaser's own help centre states these limits. Check each one against how you chase before you buy.

1. **Compact caps users and workflows.** Below £4m revenue you get 4 users, 30 follow-up templates and 4 automated workflows. More needs Core at £599 a month.
2. **Xero needs a reconnect every 90 days.** Xero disconnects connected apps every 90 days. Chasing pauses until someone clicks "Reconnect to Xero" (Chaser help centre).
3. **Payment plans chase on the invoice due date.** Chasing uses the invoice due date, not the instalment dates. Payment plans are not available on the trial, Custom or Care (Chaser help centre).
4. **One set of late fee rules.** Fees follow a single set of rules for the account, which you can limit to selected debtors (Chaser help centre). You cannot run a different fee policy for each customer group.
5. **No automated calls in New Zealand.** Chaser states that auto-calls are not available in New Zealand (Chaser help centre).
6. **No credit reports on Xero App Store billing.** If you pay for Chaser through the Xero App Store, credit reports are not available until Chaser moves you to its own billing (Chaser help centre).

## Is Chaser worth it for a small business?

For a small business with steady revenue and many late invoices, yes. Compact at £179 a month billed yearly is £2,148 a year, and it covers every invoice you send.

For a small business with few late invoices, often not. The price does not go down when you chase less, so a £1m business with 20 overdue invoices a month pays the same £199 as a £3.9m business with 2,000. Start with Xero's built-in invoice reminders, and move to a paid tool when chasing takes real time each week.

## What are the alternatives to Chaser?

These tools publish a price and suit a business that finds Chaser's revenue bands or late fee rules a poor fit.

### 1. Paidnice

Best for a Xero or QuickBooks Online business that wants a late fee or interest policy for each customer group, priced by invoice volume.

**Entry cost:** £49 / $69 a month on Essentials for up to 150 invoices a month. Pro starts at £74 a month with unlimited users. No contract.

**Rated:** 5.0 from 83 reviews on the [Xero App Store](https://apps.xero.com/uk/app/paidnice).

**Limitation:** below the Custom plan it connects only to Xero and QuickBooks Online, and it does not support desktop ledgers such as Sage 50.

### 2. in2 collect

Best for a business that sends up to 200 invoices a month and wants a fixed monthly price.

**Entry cost:** £79 a month for up to 200 invoices.

### 3. Satago

Best for a UK business that wants credit reports at a flat price.

**Entry cost:** £45 a month on a flat tier with 25 credit reports and 100 email reminders a month.
