# Is Satago worth it? An honest Satago review

What Satago costs, what you get for the money, what its own pages say each plan does not include, and which businesses get their money's worth.

**Satago is worth it for a UK business that wants credit reports and email chasing at a flat monthly price, and that may want invoice finance from the same provider. It costs £45 a month on Basic, £80 on Premium and £200 on Platinum, and Sage 50 users can run it inside Sage 50 from £25 a month.**

**It is harder to justify for a business that sends more than 100 reminder emails a month on Basic, or that wants letters, calls or late fees posted to the ledger. Basic is email only, and SMS starts on Premium.**

**In short**

- **Price:** £45, £80 or £200 a month. Yearly billing is £450, £800 or £2,000, which is ten months' price for twelve.
- **Rating:** 4.93 from 92 reviews on the Xero App Store, 4.5 from 129 on Trustpilot and 4.5 from 4 on Capterra.
- **Trial:** 14 days free, stated on Satago's credit control page. The pricing page lists no trial.
- **Main limits:** 100 email reminders and 25 credit reports per rolling 30 days on Basic, no SMS until Premium, and late fees that sit in reminder emails.
- **Alternative:** Paidnice from £49 / $69 a month, priced by invoice volume.

## Is Satago worth it? The short verdict

Satago has been on the Xero App Store since 2014, and its rating there is 4.93 from 92 reviews. It joins three jobs in one account: chasing, credit risk data and invoice finance. Even Basic at £45 a month includes 25 full credit reports.

The question is fit. The table shows when the price makes sense and when it does not.

| Satago is worth it if | Satago is harder to justify if |
|---|---|
| You want full credit reports next to your chasing at a flat price | You send more than 100 reminder emails a month and want to stay on Basic |
| You want invoice finance from the same provider as your chasing | You want letters or automated calls as chasing steps |
| You run Sage 50 and can use the embedded edition from £25 a month | You want late fees posted to the ledger, with a policy for each customer group |
| You chase mostly by email and want SMS only for a few accounts | You want every reminder sent from your own mailbox on the entry plan |

## What does Satago cost?

Satago charges a flat price per tier. The tier sets how many credit reports and reminders you get, counted per rolling 30 days.

| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Credit reports | Reminders |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | £45 | £450 a year | 25 | 100 email |
| Premium | £80 | £800 a year | 100 | Unlimited email, 100 SMS |
| Platinum | £200 | £2,000 a year | Unlimited, subject to fair usage | Unlimited email, 1,000 SMS |

Premium adds credit control from your own email account, and card and buy now, pay later payment acceptance. Platinum adds a dedicated account manager.

Satago also sells an edition embedded in Sage 50. Standard costs £25 a month with 3 full credit reports a year, and Plus costs £45 a month with 25. Plus is included with selected Sage 50 subscriptions, and Satago checks eligibility through a form and your Sage account manager.

Sources: Satago's pricing page and its Sage 50 embedded pricing page. Invoice finance is priced separately for each invoice funded, and Satago publishes no rate card.

## What do you get for the money?

Every plan includes chasing and credit risk data. The higher plans add more reports, SMS and payment options.

- **Email reminders on a schedule.** Reminders go out before and after the due date. Premium and Platinum send from your own email account.
- **SMS reminders.** 100 a month on Premium and 1,000 on Platinum, per rolling 30 days.
- **Credit risk data.** Credit scores, suggested credit limits, real-time notifications and full credit reports that cover directors, shareholders, group structure and legal proceedings.
- **Optional late fees.** Satago adds an accumulated late fee to reminder emails once an invoice is overdue, calculated in line with statutory limits. You switch it on as a "Late fees" snippet in the reminder template.
- **Card and buy now, pay later payments.** Listed on Premium and Platinum.
- **Ledger connections.** Satago lists Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, KashFlow and FreeAgent among more than 300 accounting integrations.
- **Invoice finance.** Single invoice finance has no minimum contract, and Satago's help centre states advance rates of up to 90%. Satago states that approved funds reach your account in a matter of hours.

## What do Satago's users say?

Satago's ratings are high on the two sites with a large number of reviews.

| Site | Rating | Reviews |
|---|---|---|
| [Xero App Store](https://apps.xero.com/uk/app/satago) | 4.93 | 92 |
| Trustpilot | 4.5 | 129 |
| [Capterra](https://www.capterra.com/p/145197/Satago/) | 4.5 | 4 |

On the Xero App Store, 96% of reviews give five stars. Trustpilot shows no reviews in the last 12 months, so its score describes older use. One Trustpilot reviewer wrote that a price change raised their cost by 220% to keep the features they used. That is one user's claim.

## What are Satago's limits?

Satago's own pages state these limits. Check each one against how you chase before you buy.

1. **Basic caps reminders and reports.** Basic gives 100 email reminders and 25 credit reports per rolling 30 days. Unlimited email needs Premium at £80 a month (Satago pricing page).
2. **No SMS on Basic.** SMS starts on Premium with 100 a month (Satago pricing page).
3. **Own-mailbox sending starts on Premium.** Credit control from your own email account is listed on Premium and Platinum only (Satago pricing page).
4. **Email and SMS only.** The credit control page names email as the chasing channel, with SMS on the higher tiers. It names no letters and no automated calls (Satago credit control page).
5. **Late fees sit in the reminder email.** The fee is added to the reminder text through a template snippet. Satago does not document posting the fee to the ledger as a charge (Satago credit control page and Satago blog).
6. **Unlimited reports have a fair usage limit.** Platinum's unlimited credit reports are subject to fair usage (Satago pricing page).
7. **Whole-ledger finance needs size and a contract.** Full invoice finance needs turnover above £400,000, more than 12 months of trading, a facility of at least £100,000 and a minimum 12-month contract (Satago help centre).

## Is Satago worth it for a small business?

For a small business that wants credit checks with its chasing, often yes. Basic billed yearly is £450, and 25 full credit reports per rolling 30 days is enough to check most new customers. Single invoice finance is open from £100,000 turnover after 6 months of trading.

For a small business with many overdue invoices, Basic can run out. A business that sends more than 100 reminder emails a month needs Premium at £80, or £800 a year. If you do not need credit reports or finance, start with the reminders built into Xero or QuickBooks Online, and move to a paid tool when chasing takes real time each week.

## What are the alternatives to Satago?

These tools publish a price and suit a business that finds Satago's reminder caps or late fee handling a poor fit.

### 1. Paidnice

Best for a Xero or QuickBooks Online business that wants a late fee or interest policy for each customer group, priced by invoice volume.

**Entry cost:** £49 / $69 a month on Essentials for up to 150 invoices a month. Pro starts at £74 a month with unlimited users. No contract.

**Rated:** 5.0 from 83 reviews on the [Xero App Store](https://apps.xero.com/uk/app/paidnice).

**Limitation:** below the Custom plan it connects only to Xero and QuickBooks Online, and it does not support desktop ledgers such as Sage 50.

### 2. Chaser

Best for a UK credit control team that wants email, SMS, letters and automated calls in one tool, with Creditsafe credit checks.

**Entry cost:** £199 a month on Compact for revenue under £4m.

### 3. in2 collect

Best for a business that sends up to 200 invoices a month and wants a fixed monthly price.

**Entry cost:** £79 a month on Starter for up to 200 invoices.

## Common questions

### Is Satago worth it?

Satago is worth it for a UK business that wants credit reports and email chasing at a flat price, and that may want invoice finance from the same provider. It costs £45 a month on Basic. It is harder to justify if you send more than 100 reminder emails a month on Basic, or want letters, calls or late fees posted to the ledger.

### How much does Satago cost?

Satago costs £45 a month on Basic, £80 on Premium and £200 on Platinum, or £450, £800 and £2,000 billed yearly. Reminder and report limits count per rolling 30 days, and Platinum's unlimited reports are subject to fair usage. Inside Sage 50 it costs £25 a month on Standard and £45 on Plus.

### Does Satago have a free trial?

Yes. Satago's credit control page offers a 14-day free trial. The pricing page does not list a trial, and Satago does not state whether a card is needed.

### Does Satago charge late fees?

Yes, as an option. Satago adds an accumulated late fee to reminder emails once an invoice is overdue, calculated in line with statutory limits. It does not document posting the fee to the ledger.

### What are the downsides of Satago?

Basic stops at 100 email reminders and 25 credit reports per rolling 30 days, and SMS starts on Premium. Satago names no letters or automated calls, and own-mailbox sending starts on Premium. Its late fee sits in the reminder email and is not documented as a ledger charge.

### What is a cheaper alternative to Satago?

Satago's £45 Basic tier is already among the lowest published prices for credit control. Paidnice costs £49 / $69 a month for up to 150 invoices a month, and in2 collect costs £79 a month for up to 200 invoices. Neither offers invoice finance.
