"Not documented" means the vendor does not document the capability. "Not published" means the vendor prints no price. "None found" means no evidence either way. Xero App Store review pools are shared across regional store URLs, so the count is global, not NZ-only. Prices are the vendor's published from-price as at September 2026; verify current pricing.

1. Paidnice

Best for New Zealand businesses on Xero that want reminders, statements and late fees run per customer group, from NZ$109 a month

What is it best for?

For a New Zealand business on Xero, between about $1m and $20m turnover, that wants the chasing and the late fee handled from the ledger without hiring a credit controller.

Fits
Xero and QuickBooks Online businesses from about $500k turnover, sweet spot $1m to $20m, with or without a credit controller
Regions
Auckland head office; sells in New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Canada and South Africa
Entry cost
NZ$109 a month ex GST on Essentials, covering 150 invoices, 600 emails and up to 2 team members; Pro from NZ$149 with unlimited users and no per-seat fee; SMS NZ$0.15 each.
Rated
5.0 from 83 reviews, 100% five-star, listed in NZ since December 2021 · Xero App Store listing; 4.9 from 14 on Capterra; 4.7 from 29 on Trustpilot
Awards
Winner, New Zealand Small Business App of the Year, Xero Global App Awards 2026; Xero Global Small Business App of the Year 2025
Runs on
Xero, QuickBooks Online, Stripe, Pinch Payments, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zapier; NetSuite, Sage Intacct, MYOB and Dynamics 365 Business Central on the Custom plan only
Statutory late fees
Yes. Two charge types on the same customer group: an invoice late fee per overdue invoice and a statement interest charge on the whole overdue balance, raised on the Xero ledger as Draft or Approved
Does best
Different customer groups running different reminder, statement and late-fee policies at the same time, all keyed off the Xero due date

Paidnice is an enforcement layer on a Xero organisation, built in Auckland and listed on the NZ store since December 2021.

  • Reminder sequences per customer group by email and SMS, sent from your own domain on Pro.
  • Statements on any schedule, including consolidated parent accounts, with interest recalculated at the moment each one sends.
  • Two late-fee charge types posted to Xero as Draft or Approved invoices, netted against any credit on the account.
  • Payment plans, a customer portal and escalation workflows that hand a stubborn account to a person.

Customers report they cut their average wait for payment in half, within 30 days.

Limitations with Paidnice. It runs only on Xero and QuickBooks Online as standard, so an MYOB business needs the Custom plan.

  • No bureau credit check: it enforces terms without helping you decide who should have had them.
  • One Capterra reviewer found setup "still a bit clunky and not intuitive enough"; the AI Credit Controller is in beta with human approval, not a shipped feature.

2. CreditorWatch Collect

Best for New Zealand owners who want NZ-based people making the collection calls, price on application

What is it best for?

For a business that wants chasing done for it by a named human caller, with one-click hand-off to an outside recovery agency when the calls fail.

Fits
Not published. The 14-day trial covers up to 50 debtors; beyond that the plan is quoted by an account manager
Regions
Founded in Christchurch in 2012 as Debtor Daddy; acquired by CreditorWatch (Sydney) in October 2022 and rebranded on 1 March 2023; live listings on the NZ and AU Xero App Stores

The human layer: NZ-based AR Specialists who call your debtors as if they were part of your team, and a Call Console that queues the calls you make yourself

CreditorWatch Collect is the tool a New Zealand Xero user most likely knows as Debtor Daddy: built in Christchurch in 2012, bought by CreditorWatch in October 2022 and rebranded in March 2023.

  • Reminder workflows by email, SMS and call, with a Call Console that queues the calls you make yourself.
  • AR Specialists: NZ-based callers who typically make one call, follow up at seven days and hand the account back after two calls.
  • A Payrix payment portal at 2.76% plus $0.46 NZD per transaction, no subscription fee.
  • One-click handover to commission-only debt collection for undisputed debts over $500 and under two years old.

The Debtor Daddy slug on the Xero App Store now redirects to CreditorWatch Collect, carrying the same 4.89 rating from 91 reviews, most written before the rebrand.

Limitations with CreditorWatch Collect. No late fee or interest charge exists in the product, so an overdue invoice carries no cost until it reaches an agency.

  • The Xero sync runs every 24 hours rather than in near real time.
  • No price is published for the software or the human service.

3. Chaser

Best for New Zealand teams with a credit controller that want credit checks in the same tool, up to £4m turnover on the entry tier

What is it best for?

For a finance team with a named credit controller that wants email, SMS and letter chasing plus Creditsafe credit reports from one established system.

Fits
Businesses with a credit controller; the entry tier is priced for £4m turnover and under, with tiers running to £10m and above
Regions
UK-registered, trading since 2014, sells worldwide; automated calls are not available in New Zealand
Entry cost
£199 a month on Compact for turnover to £4m with 4 users; Core £599 to £10m; Complete £899 above that. No NZD price is published.

Statutory late fees
Yes. Four calculation types recalculated daily, but one global rule for the whole ledger that cannot vary by customer group, and no fee on payment-plan or partially paid invoices; the fee syncs to Xero as a line item
Does best
Creditsafe credit checking and monitoring inside the same tool as the chasing, credit-metered at 4 credits per report outside the UK and Ireland

Chaser is the established, larger-business option in this list, trading since 2014 with the biggest Xero App Store review base of the five.

  • Reminders from the team's own Gmail or Outlook inbox, plus SMS and letters; automated calls are not available in New Zealand.
  • Creditsafe credit checks and monitoring inside the tool, at four credits per report outside the UK and Ireland.
  • One global late-fee rule with four calculation types, synced to Xero as a line item.
  • Per-invoice payment plans from weekly to yearly, a payer portal and a collections partner.

Pricing is in pounds and tiered by turnover: £199 on Compact to £4m, £599 on Core to £10m, £899 on Complete above that, so growth moves a business up a tier whether or not the ledger got harder.

Limitations with Chaser. One global late-fee rule means one figure for every customer, and no fee on invoices that are part paid or on a plan.

  • Statements go monthly on a fixed day; Compact caps the team at four users and one inbox.
  • No NZ Xero App Store listing was verified, and no NZD price is published.

4. Satago

Best for Xero teams that want credit reports bundled with their chasing at a low sterling price, UK footprint only

What is it best for?

For a Xero business that wants customer credit scores and suggested limits included in the same subscription as automated reminders, and is content to be billed in pounds.

Fits
Not published. Priced per company with no revenue band
Regions
United Kingdom only, on both the software and the invoice-finance side; no NZ presence published

Statutory late fees
Not documented. No late-fee or interest mechanic is documented in the material checked, and nothing rules one out
Does best
Credit reports, customer credit scores and suggested credit limits in the same subscription as the reminders, with invoice finance from the same provider

Satago sells automated chasing and credit-risk data on one side and invoice finance on the other, and both sides are built for UK companies, though the app lists on the New Zealand store.

  • Basic at £45 includes 25 credit reports and 100 email reminders; Premium at £80 adds unlimited email, 100 SMS and payment integrations.
  • Customer credit scores and suggested credit limits in the same subscription as the reminders.
  • Invoice finance from the same provider, built around UK company records.
  • Xero App Store record of 4.93 from 92 reviews, 96% five-star, listed since February 2014.

Nothing in the vendor's material mentions a New Zealand customer, NZD billing or a local credit bureau, so the New Zealand case rests on the entry price alone.

Limitations with Satago. Its late-fee handling cannot be scored either way, and it does not document payment plans or a customer portal.

  • Credit data and the finance product are built for UK companies.
  • Basic caps reminders at 100 emails a month; SMS starts at the £80 tier.

5. Kolleno

Best for order-to-cash teams that need cash application and reconciliation, €1m turnover and above, priced per user

What is it best for?

For a New Zealand arm of a larger group whose problem is matching payments to invoices across entities rather than chasing them.

Fits
Order-to-cash teams above €1m turnover on the entry plan, with tiers stepping at €10m, €100m and €1bn
Regions
London head office, founded 2020, selling internationally; no NZ presence published
Entry cost
€650 per user a month on BusinessPay, €545 on annual billing, minimum one user; Business Plus €1,245 per user with a two-user minimum.

Cash application: remittance parsing, bank files in BAI2, NACHA and ISO 20022, match scoring and multi-currency journal entries

Kolleno is an order-to-cash platform whose depth is in reconciliation, with Xero supported on its two lower tiers.

  • Cash application: remittance parsing, BAI2, NACHA and ISO 20022 bank files, match scoring and multi-currency journals.
  • AI-drafted reminders by email, SMS and call, run as trigger-based workflows with conditional branches.
  • Payment plans split weekly, monthly or bi-monthly, with a branded portal and bureau-fed credit scores.
  • Per-user pricing in euros: €650 a month on BusinessPay above €1m turnover, €1,245 on Business Plus with a two-user minimum.

A three-person finance team pays €1,950 a month before annual discounts, and no charge is computed for a late invoice.

Limitations with Kolleno. Nothing in its materials computes a late fee, so the overdue invoice carries no cost until a person adds one.

  • Per-user euro pricing with a €1m turnover floor puts it outside most NZ small-business budgets.
  • Reviewers name navigation and reporting depth as the recurring weak points.

Best Xero add on for invoice chasing New Zealand

For most New Zealand businesses the best Xero add-on for invoice chasing is Paidnice, the only tool here with a New Zealand base, a published NZD price and a late fee on the ledger. CreditorWatch Collect is the pick for owners who want callers.

The decision turns on what Xero already does. A Xero organisation can send up to five invoice reminders, three on by default, each a fixed number of days before or after the due date, with a minimum-amount threshold. That is enough for a business whose customers pay when nudged.

An add-on earns its subscription on what Xero cannot do: SMS reminders, a rule per contact group, automatic statements and a late fee. Xero's ideas board records the demand: 76 votes for SMS reminders, "not in our current roadmap" on 17 June 2026; 1,169 votes for auto-emailed statements, "in discovery" on 5 August 2026; 1,112 votes for interest on late invoices, "early days" on 7 July 2025.

Editorial view

We rank the late fee above the reminder because a reminder asks and a fee costs. A customer's payables team runs the invoices that carry a cost first.

Xero debtor chasing app New Zealand 2026

Two NZ-built tools anchor the 2026 market: Christchurch-built Debtor Daddy now trades as CreditorWatch Collect out of Sydney, and Auckland-built Paidnice won New Zealand Small Business App of the Year at the Xero Global App Awards 2026.

For a decade the default New Zealand answer to "which app chases my Xero debtors" was Debtor Daddy: founded in Christchurch in 2012, listed on the Xero App Store the same year, bought by CreditorWatch in October 2022 and rebranded in March 2023. The NZ-heritage product is now an Australian bureau's third pillar, priced on application.

The NZ-listed newcomer prints an NZD price. Paidnice listed on the NZ store in December 2021, has 83 reviews at 5.0, and took the NZ Small Business App of the Year award in August 2026 after winning the global award in 2025. Chaser, Satago and Kolleno all connect to Xero, but none publishes an NZD price or a New Zealand office.

Editorial view

We treat "NZ-based" as a ranking criterion because it decides whether support answers in your working day, and whether the vendor knows what a Disputes Tribunal claim is. Both NZ-based tools clear that bar; the other three are sound products built for other markets.

Which tools apply late fees and interest

Paidnice and Chaser raise a late fee on the Xero ledger. CreditorWatch Collect has no late-fee function, Kolleno documents none, and Satago does not document it either way.

New Zealand has no equivalent of the UK's statutory 8% over base rate on commercial debt, so a late fee here is whatever your terms of trade say it is. That means there is no moving rate to track, and the fee only exists if something raises it.

  1. Paidnice runs two charge types per customer group: an invoice late fee, flat or percentage, and a statement interest charge on the whole overdue balance, prorated per day. Both post to Xero as Draft or Approved invoices.
  2. Chaser offers four calculation types under one global rule for every customer, synced to Xero as a line item, with no fee on part-paid or payment-plan invoices.
  3. CreditorWatch Collect describes no fee or interest charge; its cost to the customer arrives at the agency stage, as a commission on recovery.
  4. Kolleno documents no late-fee or interest calculation.
  5. Satago documents no late-fee mechanic in the material checked, and nothing rules one out.

The fee has to sit on the ledger to work. A figure quoted in an email never reaches the customer's payables system; an invoice does. Only Paidnice and Chaser produce that document.

Which tools offer payment plans

Paidnice, Chaser and Kolleno offer instalment plans. CreditorWatch Collect schedules recurring debits through its portal, and Satago does not document its handling.

Paidnice takes deposits, instalments and auto-pay through Stripe or Pinch Payments. Chaser splits a single invoice into weekly to yearly instalments, though its own documentation notes that chasing still follows the original due date. Kolleno splits weekly, monthly or bi-monthly. CreditorWatch Collect schedules recurring debits on its Payrix portal, a scheduled payment rather than a negotiated plan.

How to choose by revenue band

Under NZ$1m, use Xero's native reminders or the Paidnice entry tier. From NZ$1m to NZ$20m, Paidnice or CreditorWatch Collect. Above that, Chaser's turnover tiers or Kolleno's per-user platform come into range.

Revenue fits are the vendor's own stated bands where published. Chaser's tiers are stated in pounds; the NZD equivalents shift with the exchange rate.

How to choose by ledger

All five connect to Xero. Only CreditorWatch Collect also connects to MYOB as standard, and only Chaser and Kolleno reach the mid-market ERPs a New Zealand group might run.

  • Xero only: any of the five; Paidnice and CreditorWatch Collect have the NZ listings.
  • Xero and QuickBooks Online: Paidnice, Chaser, Kolleno, Satago.
  • MYOB: CreditorWatch Collect as standard; Paidnice on its Custom plan only.
  • NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Dynamics 365: Chaser as standard, Kolleno on its Enterprise tiers, Paidnice on Custom.

What Xero invoice chasing add-ons cost in New Zealand in 2026

Paidnice prints NZ$109 a month ex GST. Chaser prints £199, Satago £45 and Kolleno €650 per user. CreditorWatch Collect prints no price.

The meter decides the bill more than the headline. Paidnice steps by invoice volume with no per-seat fee, so a three-person team pays the same as one. Kolleno charges per user, so the same team triples the invoice. Chaser steps by turnover, Satago by credit reports and reminder volume. CreditorWatch Collect quotes.

Worked example, 120 invoices, 3 team members, 40 SMS a month. Paidnice needs Pro because Essentials covers 2 team members: NZ$149 x 12 = NZ$1,788, plus 480 SMS x NZ$0.15 = NZ$72, so NZ$1,860 a year ex GST. Chaser Compact is £199 x 12 = £2,388 at any team size up to 4. Satago's entry tier is £45 x 12 = £540 before SMS. Kolleno is €650 x 3 users x 12 = €23,400. CreditorWatch Collect quotes.

Paidnice Essentials covers 150 invoices, 600 emails and 2 team members; above either limit the calculator moves to Pro, whose invoice allowance is not printed here, so treat Pro as a from-price. Chaser Compact covers turnover to £4m and 4 users. Kolleno is priced per user.

When a debt reaches the end of the road, the Disputes Tribunal handles claims up to $60,000 from 24 January 2026, with a $468 filing fee on the top tier that a successful claimant can recover, per the Ministry of Justice. Under the Limitation Act 2010 you generally have six years from the date the debt became payable, restarting on part-payment or written acknowledgement.

Common questions

The questions a New Zealand Xero user asks while shortlisting: what Xero does on its own, what happened to Debtor Daddy, which tools charge in NZD, and which put a fee on the invoice.

Does Xero chase overdue invoices on its own?

Yes, by email. A Xero organisation can send up to five reminders, three on by default, timed in days before or after the due date. There is no SMS reminder, no rule per contact group, no automatic statement and no late fee.

What happened to Debtor Daddy?

Debtor Daddy, founded in Christchurch in 2012, was acquired by CreditorWatch in October 2022 and rebranded CreditorWatch Collect in March 2023. The NZ Xero App Store listing is live and carries the same 91 reviews. Published tiers have been replaced by a free trial and a sales-assisted Custom plan.

Which Xero chasing apps charge in New Zealand dollars?

Paidnice, at NZ$109 a month ex GST on its entry tier and NZ$0.15 per SMS. CreditorWatch Collect quotes. Chaser and Satago price in pounds and Kolleno in euros, as at September 2026.

Which app adds a late fee to a Xero invoice?

Paidnice raises an invoice late fee and a statement interest charge on the ledger per customer group. Chaser raises one global late fee synced to Xero as a line item. The other three do not.
