Billtrust pricing in 2026: fees and distributor fit

What Billtrust costs, what buyers report paying, why card processing fees can outweigh the subscription for a distributor, and the questions to put in the quote request.

Billtrust publishes no price and quotes each buyer. ERP Research reports buyer figures of $20,000 to $60,000 a year, rising with invoice volume, and enterprise suites in the category often cost over $75,000. Payment processing fees come on top and are set in your contract; Billtrust describes itself as a B2B payment facilitator.

In short

  • Meter: an annual subscription that rises with invoice volume and the modules you buy, plus processing fees on card and ACH payments.
  • Processing: Billtrust publishes no card or ACH rates. For a distributor that takes cards, those fees can run larger than the subscription.
  • Time and discount: G2 shows 5 months to implement and an average discount of 7% (search result).
  • Alternatives to consider: Paidnice from $69 a month on Xero and QuickBooks Online, or Custom from $999 a month for NetSuite; Versapay and HighRadius on quote.

CPA note, Harry P. Smart: budget Billtrust on two lines. The subscription is fixed for the year. The processing fees move with every customer who pays by card, and for a distributor that second line is often the larger one.

How much does Billtrust cost?

Billtrust does not publish a price; ERP Research reports $20,000 to $60,000 a year for the subscription, with processing fees on top.

Subscription figures are last reported by ERP Research; Billtrust keeps its current prices hidden. Some directories show a starting price of about $65 a month; no source confirms it, and it conflicts with every buyer report, so it is not used here.

How does Billtrust price its platform?

Billtrust sells modules on an annual subscription that grows with invoice volume, and it earns processing fees on the payments it handles.

Billtrust’s platform covers invoicing (print and mail, delivery into more than 260 AP portals, and e-invoicing), payments, credit, collections and cash application. Buyers can start with one module and add others, so two quotes for "Billtrust" can cover very different scope. Ask for a line per module.

Invoice volume is the main driver, per ERP Research. A distributor that sends many small invoices pays more than a manufacturer with the same revenue on fewer, larger invoices. If you print and mail invoices through Billtrust, ask whether postage and print are priced per invoice.

What processing fees does Billtrust charge?

Billtrust publishes no card or ACH rates; your rates are set in the payments agreement that comes with the subscription.

Billtrust calls itself the "largest pureplay B2B PayFac". A payment facilitator usually onboards you as a sub-merchant under its own merchant account, so it sets the rate you pay, not your bank. That makes the payments agreement as important as the software quote.

What to askWhy it matters
Interchange-plus or a flat percentage for cards?Interchange-plus passes through the network cost; a flat rate hides the markup
Does Billtrust pass Level 2 and Level 3 data?Line-item data can qualify B2B cards for lower interchange
What is the ACH fee, and is it capped?ACH carries most B2B volume, so a cap matters on large payments
Chargeback, return and monthly fees? These appear on merchant statements outside the subscription
Can we surcharge cards, and who manages compliance?Surcharging moves card cost to the buyer where the law allows it

For a published reference point, Versapay’s NetSuite Pay charges 2.9% + 30 cents per card payment and 0.35% + 30 cents per ACH payment, capped at $8. Use it as a benchmark when you read Billtrust’s offer.

What do card fees cost a distributor?

At a 2.9% card rate, a distributor that takes $900,000 a month by card pays about $26,100 a month in card fees, or over $313,000 a year.

That is five times the top of the reported subscription range. Each half point off the card rate saves $4,500 a month at that volume.

Monthly card volumeFees at 2.9%Fees at 2.4%Yearly saving from 0.5 points
$250,000$7,250$6,000$15,000
$900,000$26,100$21,600$54,000
$2,000,000$58,000$48,000$120,000

Percentage fees only, before per-transaction charges. The 2.9% rate is Versapay’s published NetSuite Pay card rate, used as a reference; Billtrust publishes no rate. Your rate depends on card mix, data quality and contract.

Can distributors surcharge card payments?

Yes, where card network rules and state law allow it. Billtrust’s distributor page credits surcharging for part of 84 Lumber’s savings.

InterPayments lists itself as a surcharging provider for Billtrust merchants. Visa caps a US credit card surcharge at 3%, surcharges do not apply to debit cards, and some states restrict them. Ask Billtrust which surcharging setup your contract includes and who carries the compliance work.

Is Billtrust a fit for distributors?

Billtrust lists Distributors as one of its industries and names 84 Lumber, McPherson Oil and Edges Electrical Group as customers in case studies.

Billtrust’s claims for these customers are "Cutting AR costs by +50%" (84 Lumber), "Collections efficiency unlocks $2M in cash flow" (McPherson Oil) and volumes that quadruple with headcount held flat (Edges Electrical Group). These are vendor case studies, so ask for a reference customer at your size.

Billtrust fits a distributor whose contractors and retail buyers want to pay online by card, and whose larger customers want invoices in their AP portals. It fits less well where most customers pay by check or ACH and the invoice count is high, because the subscription grows with invoices.

Which ERPs does the Billtrust price cover?

Billtrust says it has "200+ connectors to ERPs, banks, and financial institutions" but names none on its home page.

NetSuiteListed by third parties; not named by BilltrustAsk Billtrust

A distributor on a trade ERP such as Epicor Prophet 21 or Infor should ask for the connector by name, who maintains it, and whether it is in the subscription or billed as services.

What do reviewers say about Billtrust?

Is Billtrust worth the price?

Billtrust is worth its price for a mid-market or enterprise supplier that delivers invoices into many AP portals and takes a large share of payments by card. It costs more than it returns for a business with low card volume and simple invoice delivery.

Price the subscription, implementation and processing together for three years. A 7% discount on a $40,000 subscription saves $2,800 a year; half a point off the card rate can save more than that every month.

What are the alternatives to Billtrust?

The main Billtrust alternatives are HighRadius, Paidnice, Quadient AR, Tesorio and Versapay.
